My name is Joy Arts, I was born as Joseph Ndigirigi in Ol’Kalou, Kenya. I am a Freelance Artist. I usually work in our family restaurant. I started painting when I was really young. I got inspired by following artists: James, Ruth Arts, Fr. Kevin Kelly, Matisse, Rembrandt, Leonardo Da Vinci, Cazani, …, And I also get inspired by the place where I live, we have our own field and I spend a lot of time in the nature. As a person from Kenya I get also inspired by my environment, by the colorful nature and by the light and shadows in Kenya. Color is really important in my paintings. I don’t just put color on a wall. But I am telling a story, the story of myself and my life in Kenya. I usually paint for schools since I like teaching others the way of painting. I use a lot of colors when I paint. You can see it on the picture in our shop. I painted everything inside it.
